Kieran Toland converted a penalty kick and forced an own goal as FC Buffalo claimed the first Erie County Derby of the year with a 2-0 defeat of the Erie Commodores on Friday at Robert Rich Sr. All-High Stadium.
Toland gave the Wolves a first half lead when Will Warren found him in the right corner, and the Scot’s hard cross was buried in the back of the goal by an Erie defender.
The Blitzers seemed snakebit despite dominating possession, but a relentless Nevado Elliott set up Toland for a penalty kick when he was hacked down in the box early in the second half. Toland didn’t miss.
Next up is another home match, as Pittsburgh Hotspurs visit on Friday, June 14 at 7 p.m. (Save $2 on tickets by buying presale).
