The Pocono Snow saw the clock at 60 minutes and zeroes across the board in a road game they weren’t expected to win, so they did everything they could do to come out with a point Sunday afternoon at Robert E. Rich All-High Stadium.
Despite a shot advantage of 37-8, FC Buffalo (2-2-2) could not find the back of the Pocono (2-4-3) net and the waning moments of the 0-0 tie were a carousel of Blitzer shots that just missed, including point blank Snow saves on Mike Unwin and Andy Tiedt.
In addition to the Blitzer misfires, the Snow were ravaged by injury stoppages. Five times in the final minutes of the second half Pocono found one of its players on the ground in agony, but all five were able to continue the match.
Tiedt carried the stat line with nine shots on goal, while Unwin registered four despite playing only the final third. Defender Kyle Westerholt was awarded the Northtowns Orthopedics’ Man of the Match Award for stalwart play on the backline.
Goaltender Nick Fetterman earned the clean sheet for the Blitzers.
FC Buffalo’s next home game is July 3, but two road games await the Blitzers next weekend. FC Buffalo will square off against the FC Reading Revolution on June 26 for the first ever match between the two clubs. The Blitzers will then drive to New Jersey on June 27 for the business end of a season series with the Blaze.
