Call it a rivalry renewed, as FC Buffalo and GBFC Thunder will match up this summer in a home-and-road Upstate NY Derby.
GBFC and FC Buffalo will meet for the first time since July 1, 2012 at the Greater Binghamton Sports Complex on June 10 for a 6 p.m. match, before GBFC returns the favor on Sunday, July 5 at 1 p.m.
“We’re excited to add another home match to our summer slate, and to compete for Upstate prominence,” said FCB general manager Nick Mendola.
The clubs played thrice in 2012 when both were in the NPSL’s Keystone Conference. Each team won a match, and the clubs split the third game.
The Thunder have won the Keystone Conference in 2013 and 2014 with back-to-back 9-2-1 records.
