In the battle for second place in the Valley Division table, FC Buffalo men’s team drew Cleveland Force 2-2 at Robert Rich All-High Stadium as Ander Castillo’s double nearly helped the Wolves move second in the table.

Tonight’s draw pujts the team’s record at 4-3-3 on the 2024 USL League Two season, keeping them third on the table following Toledo Villa’s draw with Kings Hammer this evening.

FCB took the lead in just six minutes as Castillo ran down the right flank, picked the keeper’s pocket, and tucked the ball inside the far post with a neat pass from the right edge of the 18.

Castillo and Diego Rivera then combined for the second time this season as Rivera whipped in a corner kick to the back post to Castillo, who levitated in the air to score his 14th goal of the season for the blue and gold

Castillo’s two goals today give him a USL League Two best 12 on the season.

Like the past two contests between both teams, Cleveland didn’t back down as they pulled one back following a free kick, which took a funny bounce low through the wall and slipped over Andreas Kokoska’s line for the 2-1 lead before halftime.

The Wolves are still searching for their first clean sheet of the season.

In the second half, Cleveland continued fighting to get the equalizer. It took Kokoska to pull off a fantastic save to prevent a point-blank header attempt from Cleveland from entering the net in the 71st minute.

Still, the Wolves battled and defended to hold on, but in the final fifth minute of stoppage time, Cleveland scored the late equalizer for the 2-2 final result.

The Wolves hit the road for the final time this season as they have a rematch with Toledo Villa for a 7 pm kickoff on July 10. Three days later, the blue and gold return to All-High Stadium to play their final game of the season when they face Dayton Dutch Lions for a 6 pm kickoff on July 13.
