FC Buffalo’s women’s team scored thrice in the first 15 minutes of Saturday’s men’s and women’s doubleheader at Robert Rich Sr. All-High Stadium to produce a 3-0 win over FC Berlin as the blue and gold got their second home win and edged closer to clinching a UWS playoff spot.
The Wolves took an early lead in the game’s first five minutes when club captain Carissima Cutrona kept close control of the ball from inside the penalty area and laid it off for Izzy Schmidt, who hammered the ball past the keeper for her second goal in as many games.
Schmidt once again got involved in a goal as she stood up a cross from the left. Berlin’s defense attempted to clear the ball out, but it landed to Cutrona and she slotted the ball home in the 10th minute.
The game’s third goal came five minutes later after FCB’s Skylar Cornell zipped inside the penalty area and was dropped by a Berlin defender. Cornell would convert on the penalty to give her team a dominant 3-0 first-half lead.

Bartholomew’s team had numerous opportunities to add to the scoresheet in the second half, but they couldn’t find the back of the net. Still, FCB picked up their third clean sheet of the season and fourth-straight win in the 2024 UWS campaign, thanks to their talented goalkeepers, Brigid Mulholland and Agnes Stenlund.
Cornell’s and Cutrona’s goals from today have them as FCB’s joint top scorers with four goals into the season. Cutrona also now leads the team in assists with three.
