For Our City: FCB Partakes In Heritage Centers 5K

One morning after a fun 2-1 win over Zanesville Athletic to open their 2013 campaign, some FC Buffalo staffers, players and supporters took to the streets of Downtown Buffalo to help raise money for Heritage Centers.

Despite a unseasonable — dare-we-say horrible — 50 degree May morning, the team managed to raise over $1,000 for Heritage Centers over the course of Friday night’s 50/50 split club and organizational efforts at race fundraising.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be a small part of such a great event,” said FC Buffalo co-owner Joshua Batten. “Hopefully we’re living up to our lofty goals ‘for our city,’.”

“To see players and supporters participating, giving their time and talent, is an amazing and inspiring thing for us,” said FCB general manager Nick Mendola. “Since it took me forever to run the 5K, I had to laugh at Mitch’s consternation in missing out on first place overall.”

FC Buffalo strongly encourages all in the Buffalo community to support Heritage Centers, who supports children and adults with disabilities, and their families, in achieving their desired quality of life by creating opportunities through comprehensive services.
