It was comeback season at Scudamore Stadium in Kentucky on Friday, where Landon Hungerford, Mohammad Sanyang, and Aitor Jorde scored in FC Buffalo’s 3-2 win over Kings Hammer.
FC Buffalo dug a 2-0 hole after 11 minutes of the USL League Two tilt in Highland Heights, Kentucky, but immediately set to make things right.
Brock Piper assisted Kings Hammer’s first goal and scored the second in short order. The Wolves pulled one back in the first half as Fabian Overkamp’s cross was well-turned home by the head of Jorde header. Then Sanyang scored a curler from the left wing to tie it in the second half before Hungerford bulled his way to a corner kick and scored a diving header to deliver the Wolves their third USL League Two win of the season.
KHFC’s Parker Grinstead opened the scoring by running inside the box and reaching Piper’s low-driven cross from the right flank in the fifth minute. Piper expanded the lead six minutes later as a partially blocked shot off a corner kick fell to him in the box. He then used an overhead kick to beat Andreas Kokoska for the 2-0 lead.
FCB bounced back as midfielder Jorde scored his first goal of the season. The Basque forward, who got his first start for the club, joined his fellow compatriot, Ander Castillo, up front. A pinpoint cross from the right flank by German center-back Overkamp allowed Jorde to head the ball to the bottom left corner of the net after beating his defender inside the penalty area.

Sanyang tied the game for FCB in the 74th minute with an otherworldly goal deserving of any “Goal of the Month” celebration of golazos. He precisely curled the ball into the top right corner of the net from the edge of the 18 for his first goal of the season.
Niagara University defender Landon Hungerford completed the Wolves’s late comeback win in the 87th minute with a bull of a header off a corner.

The Wolves welcome Fort Wayne back home at Robert Rich All-High Stadium for a 7pm Wednesday kickoff. Then it’s six days before a visit to Dayton Dutch Lions.
Wednesday’s match will be Castillo’s next opportunity to break long-time forward/center-back Kendell McFayden’s 18 goals and become the player with the most goals in the men’s club history.
