MacVane goal, stout D helps FCB to 1-1 draw with Detroit

Co-Men of the Match Bobby Ross and Andrew Coughlin combined to clear two major Detroit chances at the death, as FC Buffalo held on for a 1-1 draw against visiting DCFC on Saturday at Robert E. Rich Sr. All-High Stadium.

A regular season record crowd of 1220 saw the Wolves take a first-half lead off a corner kick, as Dylan MacVane rose high to power a Matt ‘Nanu’ Ferguson corner kick home for a 1-0 lead in the 64th minute.

But a handball in the box allowed Detroit’s Josh Rogers to earn his club a point in the 79th minute.

DCFC leads the Rust Belt Derby race with four points through two matches, while FCB is second with 1 point and AFC Cleveland has zero. FCB’s visit to Ohio will conclude the Derby in late June.

The Wolves are off until Friday, May 29, when they’ll face FC Indiana before finishing a Midwestern swing with Indiana Fire on Sunday, May 31.
