FC Buffalo’s women finished their two-game away stretch with a 2-0 win at Flower City on Wednesday evening as goalkeeper Brigid Mulholland‘s saves gave the Wolves their second clean sheet of the season.

Grace Kulniszewski and Kasia Bak scored their first goals for the blue and gold in the second half at Rochester Community Sports Complex Stadium.

Captain Carissima Cutrona, similar to Saturday, almost scored the first goal of the game in the second half. However, the assistant referee waved off the goal for an offside call in the 52nd minute. Cutrona and Skylar Cornell are still FCB’s joint top scorers with three goals.

After numerous opportunities and a scoreless first half via Mulholland, Kulniszewksi opened the scoresheet. Tess Ford tapped a loose ball off a corner kick to the back post, where Kulniszewski would clean up the mess in the 65th minute, scoring her first goal for the Wolves and joining her sister Morgan as the first sisters to score for the women’s team.

Mulholland stood out from tonight’s game as Fairport goalkeeper pulled off one of her most outstanding performances in her second year under head coach Nikki Bartholomew. Her numerous saves throughout both halves gave FCB their second clean sheet of the season as she prevented Flower City’s dangerous forwards from scoring on multiple breaks.

The Wolves put the contest away once midfielder Gianna Tuzzolino crossed the ball through the box after zipping down the left flank. Cutrona let the ball go for Bak, and the Canadian midfielder hammered it into the back of the goal in the 83rd minute.

Tuzzolino picked her first assist for the season while already scoring a goal from FCB’s 2-1 away loss at Steel City.

The win boosts the blue and gold’s record to 4-1-0 in the 2024 UWS Iron Division, boosting their playoff momentum following their recent display on Saturday’s 3-1 away victory over derby rivals Erie Commodores.

It’s a doubleheader at Robert Rich All-High Stadium as Sean Hallas’s men face off against Kings Hammer FC for a 3:30 pm Saturday kickoff, and the women take on FC Berlin later at 7 pm.
