FC Buffalo head coach Brendan Murphy has added some danger on the outside, welcoming St. Lawrence University defender Daniel Hunt to the team for 2014.
The second Saints player to join up in just under a week — Andrew Bednarsky rejoined the club over the weekend — Hunt scored seven goals from the back as a sophomore in Canton, adding two assists for a two-year total of 8 goals and 3 assists in 42 games.
Hunt (South Glastonbury, Connecticut) won the Bob Goodwin Most Consistent Player of the Year award at St. Lawrence and twice was named Liberty League defensive player of the week. Murphy is excited to have another strong player from his alma mater.
“I am excited to welcome Dan Hunt to the team,” Murphy said. “It will be great to have another St. Lawrence University product on board. Bob Durocher runs a top quality program and I am one hundred percent certain of the toughness, work rate and character of anyone who comes from his squad. I have also seen Dan play personally and he is a hard nosed defender who can get forward and score goals. He will be a solid addition to our defensive core.”
FC Buffalo opens camp this week, with opening night Friday, May 16 in Erie against the Admirals. The Wolves then open their home schedule on Sunday, May 18 against AFC Cleveland.
