The National Premier Soccer League announced its Conference All-Star teams on Friday, and one FCB player was named to the Best XI of the Midwest Conference.
Akean Shackleford (Savannah La Mar, Jamaica / Indian Hills CC) scored seven goals to pace FCB, drew a penalty kick, and picked up an assist during the Blitzers’ 5W-4L-3T season under manager Frank Butcher.
Shackleford scored against every team in the East Division, including a brace in a 3-3 draw at Dayton Dynamo.
In his last five matches of the season, two of them substitute appearances thanks to an ankle injury, Shackleford averaged a goal every 42 minutes on the field.
His seven goals tied him for the division lead despite the injury and missing the opener due to a delay in his international clearance.
